Our 12-Steps Consignment Process
1. Custody
The consignment process begins when you sign our legally binding Consignment Agreement, and we take custody of your musical instruments and musical instrument accessories. You can bring in the items after you have set an appointment with us.
2. Valuation
We conduct a valuation of your items to determine the current market value. For this valuation, we assess the condition of the item, its authenticity, and research the item’s current market value on Reverb, eBay, and on the general web.
3. Inspection & Cleaning
We inspect the items that need to be inspected, and we clean each item for display and to be photographed and listed online. We may sometimes setup & service an instrument based on need-to basis.
4. Rectification
We identify any needed rectification and report back to the seller with a suggested course of action and any costs that is involved. When approved, we handle the needed rectifications from thereon.
5. Web-store
We display each item for sale at our website www.terencechong.com
6. Photography
We photograph each item that we list for sale online. Our goal with the photographs is to simply show the buyer the clearest representation of the item and its actual physical condition.
7. Customer Service
We respond to emails, calls, and texts about the items we list online. We communicate with buyers and confirm their satisfaction with the item and with our service. We also provide customer service as part of the buyer experience.
8. Advertising
We advertise individual items, groups of items, our store, our online sales channels, and our brand to a worldwide buying audience in order to speed the process of selling your items.
9. Logistics
We handle both nationwide & international logistics. This includes most items that we sell, not only guitars and effect pedals but amplifiers as well. Some items we list online but do not ship. These items are labelled as Local Pickup Only. These are usually items that are worth less than the cost to ship them.
10. Returns
We handle all returns for the items we sell. When we are responsible for the cost of return shipping, we cover that cost as well. Our return policy is specific to each of our sales channels. For example, Reverb has a 7-day default return policy that begins when the buyer receives the item.
11. Remittance
We pay our sellers by Bank Transfer. We include a report on what was sold with their agreed upon price. When an item sells, we wait until the applicable return policy has passed, then we queue up payment for that item in our next payout. We normally do payouts once per week.
12. Scouting
Used guitars, basses, amps, pedals, pro audio, stands, straps, cables, capos, tuners, and all sorts of musical instrument accessories.
